Better Get Together: Alzheimer’s Society & Club Games

The Better Get Together is a social, multi-sports drop in session for over 50s that runs every Wednesday morning between 09:00 – 11:00. It features sports such as badminton, bowls, and table tennis. There are refreshments available at every session and entry for non-members is just £2.00.

On the 12th September, we’ll be teaming up with the Alzheimer’s Society. They’re coming to the session to provide information about Dementia Friend, all of the dementia friendly communities in the area, as well as dementia navigators.  The Alzheimer’s Society will be arriving at 10:00 – this session will also be free.

In addition, we are recruiting for the Club Games. This is an annual celebration of sport for over 50s that takes place at the Copper Box Arena in London’s Olympic Park. Last year, Rugby sent a thirty-strong team on the coach to compete against other Better centres from across the UK. Sports included dominoes, darts, badminton, short tennis and a timed cycle, as well as a timed swim in the Olympic Pool. If you’d like to be involved, please contact Chelsea (chelsea.ashford@GLL.org) or pop along to a Better Get Together session!
