Inter schools Aquathlon another hit

100 children from years 5/6 took part in the Leisure Centres' annual event.

Local schools that took part were - SJB, Croflands, Low Furness, Penny Bridge and Yarlside.

You may wonder what an Aquathlon is. Well it's similar to a triathlon, but without the bike, children swam a length of the 25m pool followed by a run round the cricket pitch before crossing the finish line. Each child was timed and received a medal at the finish to make it as race like as possible.

The fastest recorded time was 2 minutes 14 seconds, this was achieved by 2 boys- one from croftlands and one from low furness

All the children seemed to have a great afternoon and the feedback form parents and teachers was very positive.

We will be running one again next year, will hopefully even more children competing
