As further information is expected on the Government’s lifting of lockdown in the leisure sector,  Better is pleased to report further progress on our reopening plans for swimming.

Did you know we are the UK’s largest provider of public swimming with over 100 pools? Swimming is one of the most popular activities we offer at Better – customers really rate it as a vital life skill and also great exercise that has a range of health and wellbeing benefits.

In a phased opening approach, our first pools will be open from 4 July for members (6 July for non-members) for lane swimming only - the dates subject to Government confirmation.

In line with our COVID-safe operational policy, things will look a bit different in the pool.

We’ll be offering swimming in 1 hour pre-booked slots (bookable 6 days in advance for members) and this includes time to get into the building safely, show your booking, get changed, get to the pool, enjoy your swim, get changed and leave.

We’ll operate a ‘double lane’ arrangement in the pool to provide more space between swimmers – with fast, medium and slow lanes.

Swim for Family Sessions will be available at selected centres on a Saturday or Sunday.

There will be no leisure pools open in the initial opening phase but we hope to add these as soon as we are able.

We'll announce details of how to book later this month and more facilities will be added as time progresses.

The best way for customers to find out the details is to check their centre pages online at www.better.org.uk/centres

Customers can be reassured that we are following all available advice from the Chief Medical Officer and the Government with regard to safety and hygiene.

We look forward to seeing you in the pool soon.
