Flexercise was originally designed to benefit older people who live in nursing homes, residential homes or sheltered housing as well as those older people that attend day care centres. However, it has a wider range of benefits including helping people with physical disabilities, learning difficulties and rehabilitation after a stroke.

Flexercise also provides benefits for people at risk of social isolation or exclusion and people with, or at risk of, developing mental health problems.

This short course teaches care staff, activity co-ordinators, and volunteers how to:

  • Deliver fun and safe chair-based activities designed to promote physical activity and mental wellbeing
  • Adapt activities for different ages, abilities, disabilities and to your care setting
