What To Wear

Comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes. Please bring clothing appropriate to the weather conditions. We recommend that everyone brings a bottle of water.

The Benefits of Walking

Walking is simple, free and one of the easiest ways to get more active, lose weight and become healthier.

Sometimes overlooked as a form of exercise, walking briskly can help you build stamina, burn excess calories and make your heart healthier.

You do not have to walk for hours. A brisk 10-minute daily walk has lots of health benefits and counts towards your recommended 150 minutes of weekly exercise.

Social Events

The Walking Group committee organises many social events throughout the year. These have included Coach Trips, Pub Lunch Walks, and Christmas events/meals etc. Walkers normally enjoy a coffee after each walk.

You're walking at your our risk

Those that take part in this scheme are walking at their own risk. We ask all to walk at a pace that they are comfortable with, bring water and wear appropriate clothing.

On the walker's initial visit, they'll be asked to complete two registration forms. One for the centre and the other for Viv Boorman (Volunteer Scheme Coordinator) for administration purposes. The centre uses the registration form as evidence of the walker agreeing to walk at their own risk.
