Clean Up Welwyn Garden City - Community Litter Picks

The Better Team would like to pass on their thanks to a local volunteer group - Clean Up Welwyn Garden City - for all their help and support for litter picks in the local area. These included our Better Park sites at King George V & Moneyhole Lane Playing Fields.

The group was started in October of 2018 by Lloyd Harrison as a way to champion the great efforts of the local people who were out tidying the streets of WGC. The idea is to bring together communities to take action against the current litter problem and give people a sense of pride about where they live.

The first community Litter Pick took place at Moneyhole Park last year which was very successful with serveral families and individuals turning up to help tidy the Park.

Off the back of our picks the group have now been contacted by several local schools to go in and talk to students about the litter problem. Lloyd recently did a talk at Panshanger Primary School which was a great success. The children were amazing and asked so many inquisitive quesions. The session ended with a litter pick around the school. We hope that by talking to the younger generation we can get them thinking about litter from an early age.

GLL are fully supportive of the scheme and thank the volunteers for their time and the great work that they do to keep our local areas clean.
