Energise Leisure Centre rated Excellent by leading quality scheme

Energise Leisure Centre has achieved an ‘Excellent’ rating in a tough assessment by Sport England’s leading national quality scheme, Quest. Excellent is the highest of the 5 possible bandings, Unsatisfactory, Satisfactory, Good, Very good and Excellent

Quest is the best-known and leading improvement programme within the leisure industry and its rigorous assessments challenge even the very best leisure centres in the UK.

In order to achieve Quest Plus, Energise Leisure Centre started upon a two-year process, with a mystery visit and two-day assessment recently completed, and will have a one-day review in 2020. During the two day assessment Energise Leisure Centre was assessed against the following areas:

  • Planning to Improve
  • Community Outcomes
  • Customer Experience and Insight
  • Team and Skill Development
  • Cleaning & Housekeeping
  • Maintenance & Equipment
  • Environmental
  • Fitness Suites (Inc Group Exercise)
  • Lifeguarding
  • Contribution to Health & Well-Being
  • Sports Specific Development
  • Engaging with Disabled People and People with Long Term Health Conditions

All areas assessed scored either ‘Very Good’ or ‘Excellent’ resulting in the centre being awarded an overall result of Excellent.  As part of the assessment the centre was also awarded an Excellent rating from the ‘Inclusive Fitness Initiative’. This recognises the ongoing commitment to provide welcoming and accessible services for disabled people and people with long term health conditions.

James Howard, General Manager said: “We are very proud to be recognised as an excellent centre. This is a fantastic achievement and a real team effort. Quest is much more than a tick-box exercise; it is an ongoing programme to improve our facility for both staff and customers, and a great way to demonstrate our achievements.”

Quest’s operations director, Caroline Constantine, said: “Quest Plus is a step up from the entry level Quest and as such it is a more demanding process. By meeting Quest’s high standards for excellent centres, Energise Leisure Centre has shown its commitment to providing quality facilities and service to its customers.
