GO TRI Acomb Family Triathlon success
The second annual Acomb Family Triathlon took place at Better, Energise Leisure Centre on Saturday 1st September. This year saw the event delivered as a GO TRI event. GO TRI is a British Triathlon series of events that are aimed at introducing new participants to the sport of Triathlon.
14 families attended the event with team members as young as 6 years old completing the 3 discipline event for the first time. Family teams of up to 5 completed a 400m swim as a relay with younger participants opting to swim lengths of the centre's learner pool, before taking on the 1km bike ride and 600m run as a team.
Liz Armstrong took part with her family and said "It was so much fun, my girls love being active but to do this event as a family team was great. We'll definitely sign up to this again next year."
On September 29th, GO TRI will host a second event at Better, Energise Leisure Centre in the form of an Aquathlon. The Aquathlon is aimed at participants 14 years and over and will consist of a 200m pool swim followed by a 2km run on a closed circuit of the centres grounds.
