A good time was had by all last Thursday at the unveiling of Mablethorpe Library's new touchscreen, consisiting of over 5,000 images of the surrounding area. Among the many people present were Members of the Coastal Community Challenge who funded the project and Sutton-on-Sea Railway Group volunteers. The volunteers spent months scanning local photographs and slides of the local area including the beach, people, businesses, entertainment, notable buildings etc. The collection spans through the decades beginning in Victorian times. The screen can be used like a tablet and images easily enlarged.

Previous to having the touchscreen, photographs were stored in a locked cabinet for security. A member of staff was always needed to allow access. The touchscreen is now available for use anytime during library open hours and will be a great asset to anyone interested in the local area.
