Monday 2nd October marked the launch of Elthamread 2017 – a local initiative aimed at getting the people of Eltham reading more often. Guests were joined at the launch event at Better, Eltham library by Clive Efford MP and author Stella Duffy.

Elthamread brings together the people of Eltham, by encouraging them to read the same book during October. This year’s title is Stella Duffy’s London Lies Beneath. Stella was joined by Eltham MP Clive Efford, to read extracts from the book to local literature enthusiasts.

Miriam Storey, Librarian at Better, Eltham Library said: “We are delighted to launch the Elthamread initiative at Eltham Library. This launch is the first of several Elthamread events taking place here and we look forward to welcome more visitors to discuss and enjoy Stella’s latest successful title.”

Members are invited to attend An Evening with Stella Duffy – discussing London Lies Beneath and a whole host of other topics, at Eltham Library on 24th October. For more information, visit www.elthamread.co.uk
