Each day started with Telford Indoor Tennis Centre apprentice Jamie and Tennis Manager, Nick, playing the grand finale of their tour series of matches they had played during the school assemblies the previous weeks, with Jamie taking home the title. This gave the children the opportunity to learn about tennis and get the children involved with helping to score, call lines and umpire.
During the two days children learnt all the basic skill sets required to play tennis; speed and agility, co-ordination and racket skills, volleying, rallying, targets and serving.
The two open days were a huge success with 54 children signing up to the tennis programme at Telford Indoor Tennis Centre, taking the programme to over 200 regularly participating children.
Nick Williams, Telford Tennis Manager commented: "Our schools assembly tour was a huge success and we were delighted that so many children came to enjoy a great session of tennis. Our tennis coaches and volunteers did a fantastic job of organising the children and teaching them the basics of the game. With 54 new children now signed up to take regular lessons, we are looking forward to a wonderful 2017".
