As a charitable social enterprise, we’re continually making improvements to our leisure facilities. Working in partnership with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, an investment of £1.7 million has been committed to make necessary improvements to the centre’s wet-side facilities. As one of only four heritage listed buildings with a swimming pool in the London area, we are jointly taking steps to safeguard the swimming pool. This is so it can remain in use for many more years to come, along with ensuring the changing room facilities remain fit for purpose for local families, schools and community groups who regularly use the facility.
We will be contacting customers directly in regards to memberships, bookings and swimming lessons and thank you for your patience whilst we do so.
The improvement works are due to commence on Saturday 1st April 2017, the existing wet-side changing rooms will be unavailable, as we begin work creating a new mixed changing village. The brand new, stylish changing village will provide a larger, better ventilated changing space featuring:
- A total of 12 cubicle showers
- 30 single changing cubicles
- 3 family changing cubicles with baby changing facilities
- 2 group changing rooms
- 2 accessible changing rooms
- Designated buggy storage area
- New costume dryer and hairdryers
Additionally essential maintenance works and a refresh of the pool hall area will also begin on Saturday 1st April, meaning a pool closure whilst we complete the improvement works, this will include:
- Improved air circulation for a more comfortable swimming and spectator experience
- Improved energy efficient lighting
- Ceiling maintenance work
- Re-tiled floor around the perimeter of the pool
- Improvement works on the viewing gallery
All improvement works are due to be completed by the end of the summer when you can expect to have full access to centre facilities restored.
We will of course keep you fully updated of our progress and inform you with plenty of notice when you can expect to have full access to the new facilities.
We wish to take a moment to apologise for any inconvenience caused by the disruption of service, and thank you for your patience during this time. As the last swimming pool improvement works were conducted here in 2005, this investment comes at an essential time to restore the pool hall to its former glory, and to create changing facilities that better suit the needs of all of our customers.
