On Monday 19th December the 2016 Better Communications Day saw a new centre crowned Merton’s centre of the year.  The last two years had belonged to Canons Leisure Centre, Mitcham but in a very busy and eventful year for the Merton partnership, Morden Park Pools remained stable and steadily improved over 12 months.  A very modest leisure facility in comparison to its counterparts in Merton, Wimbledon Leisure Centre & Spa and Canons Leisure Centre, Morden Park Pools performed consistently throughout 2016 against targets related to memberships, finance, customer service, staff satisfaction and community engagement.  The centre also played a pivotal role in the Merton Partnership’s Sport Relief funding raising effort, raising a little under £3,000 of the £8,000 that was raised across the Merton borough.

Morden Park Pools General Manager James Davis collected the award from Regional Director Simon Sen on behalf of his centre staff, he later said ‘‘This year has been fantastically successful for the team, everyone has pulled together and worked tremendously hard to keep the centre going. We will continue to work hard and improve on the efforts of 2016.’’
