Didcot Wave member wins Bronze at 2017 Invictus Games

Jack Cummings, member at Didcot Wave Leisure Pool and Gym, has recently won a fantastic Bronze medal in the ISB 50m Breaststroke event as part of his first, and the event’s third annual Invictus Games which took place in Toronto, Canada from 23rd-30th September.

Jack suffered a double leg amputation whilst serving in Afghanistan, and was integral part of the bomb disposal unit. Jack has shown amazing bravery and courage, and his extraordinary determination has led to him being selected to compete in the 50m swim (front crawl and breaststroke) and archery competitions for this year’s event.

Jack was also featured in a recent programme called 'Battle to the start line' that documents the journey of four of this year's participants. The programme is available for the next month on i-player.

Everyone at Didcot Wave Leisure Pool and Gym would like to say huge congratulations to Jack for his amazing achievement, and we look forward to following his progress towards more medals at the next Invictus Games in Sydney 2018.
