Members of Better’s Club programmes at centres across London are preparing for competition at the 12th annual Better Club Games. On Friday, 10th November, teams comprising of over 55s from across London will be descending on the Copper Box Arena at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, for an enthralling day of competition. Olympian Fatima Whitbread, MBE, will also be on hand to open the games, and offer encouragement to those taking part – representing 22 boroughs in London and the south.

The Better Club Games celebrates the successful and popular offering of activities for older people at Better Centres. In line with its ethos as a charitable social enterprise, the Club programme offers older people the chance to enjoy a variety of inclusive classes, with the aim of making more people more active, more often.

Mark Sesnan, Managing Director at GLL, said: “We are delighted to once again welcome competitors to the iconic Copper Box Arena for the Better Club Games. As the UK’s leading charitable leisure social enterprise we are proud to run this event, that celebrates the benefits that physical activity and an active lifestyle can offer everyone regardless of age.”

Teams will compete for points in events including badminton, short tennis, table tennis, darts, short mat bowls, indoor bowls, timed cycle, timed swim and dominoes. To find out how your local team are getting on, keep an eye on Better’s Facebook, Twitter and Instagram channels.
