On the weekend of April 8th and 9th Cally Pool & Gym hosted another Swimathon event to help raise funds for Marie Curie.

This year we had 29 participants over the 2 days that completed distances of either 1.5km, 2.5km or 5km as an individual or a team, raising a total £2000 so far.

This included a mother-and-daughter team who took on a 1.5km challenge on Saturday afternoon for the first time, taking turns to complete the distance across 60 lengths. The daughter of the team was only 9 years old and kept up with most of the swimmers on the other teams. This accomplishment was to be challenged on Sunday where a father-and-daughter team took on the 5km relay - completing a total of 200 lengths together. We look forward to hosting the event again next year to see who will be crowned Cally's updisputed parent/child team.

Brian Hooper, one of Cally's regular customers and the centres User Rep also volunteered throughout the whole weekend to assist with counting lanes, recruiting people to take part, and also completing a swim himself - helping to raise over £300 for the charity. Very well done and many thanks to him for his help.

We also had the Cally Masters Swim club put forward 2 teams to complete challenges.

Thank you to everyone who contributed and also please visit www.callymasters.com if you are interested in joining their club. We'll see you all again next year for an even bigger and Better Swimathon.
