Good Boost
Good Boost is a water-based rehabilitation programme designed to be fun and beneficial for people with a range of health issues. Also known as aquatic therapy, water-based rehabilitation is highly regarded for a range of musculoskeletal conditions.
Research has shown that such aquatic rehabilitation programmes are beneficial for a range of conditions including back pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, hip and knee joint replacements, joint sprains, shoulder rehabilitation and general fitness.
Studies have demonstrated that aquatic rehabilitation and exercise has multiple benefits for users.
These include:
- Reduced stress and compression through back and joints
- Reduced joint swelling from hydrostatic (water) pressure
- Improved circulation from hydrostatic (water) pressure
- Reduction of pain and muscle spasm
- Improvement and maintenance of joint motion
- Strengthening of muscles
- Increased physical fitness and ability to exercise
- Ability to progress to land-based exercise
- Regaining of normal movement patterns
- Improved balance
- Improved mobility
- Improved flexibility
- Improved co-ordination
- Improve posture
- Improve self-confidence
How do I attend?
- You need to have an induction first so we can create you profile on the tablets that you follow the exercise on.

What does it cost?
- It’s just £24 for 6 sessions over 6 weeks! You pay online through the link above
- For January 2023 you can trial sessions at Hough End for £4 per session!
Where are the sessions?
- Arcadia Library and Leisure Centre, Levenshulme, M19 3PH on Wednesdays at 1:30pm
- Hough End Leisure Centre, 480 Princess Road, M20 1HD on Wednesdays at 7pm
What will I need?
- Just bring everything you would as if you were going for a swim. Nothing else required
Escape Pain
ESCAPE-pain is a land based group rehabilitation programme for people with chronic joint pain that integrates educational self-management and coping strategies with an exercise regimen individualised for each participant. It helps people understand their condition, teaches them simple things they can help themselves with, and takes them through a progressive exercise programme so they learn how to cope with pain better.
ESCAPE Pain covers:
- ESCAPE-pain for knees and hips: designed to benefit people with chronic knee or hip pain
- ESCAPE-pain for backs: designed to benefit people with chronic low back pain.
How do I attend?
- Sessions are then bookable online at https://betterflow.courseprogress.co.uk/onlinejoining/home~
- Enter the centre of your choice (Arcadia/ Hough End) and select Health Class. Select Escape Pain and follow Sign In or Register.
- You must start at the beginning of a block of 6 weeks. New blocks will be added; just keep referring to the link above.

- Nothing, just come in comfortable clothing and shoes that you can move around in.
