After 8 long weeks, Western Leisure Centre welcomed its swimmers back on Monday morning! In late August the main pool developed a substantial leak. Following extensive investigation works the leak was identified and plans to repair the issue got underway.  A high-tech lining technique was used to repair to the underground pipework which feeds the main pool, this ensured minimal damage to the poolside was required. Once the repairs had been completed on the pipework the process of refilling, filtering, treating and cleaning the pool began, alongside the final works to make good the poolside area excavated to access the pipe.

We would like to thank all our customers for their patience and understanding during this time and we hope you're all as pleased with the result as we are. Our regular early morning swimmers were thrilled to be the first to enjoy a dip, followed closely by the 40 strong Aqua Fitters soon after! "It's a pleasure to be back" and "well worth getting up early for" were just some of the comments from our early birds.

We understand the importance swimming has on the health and wellbeing of our customers, staff and community and is why we are proud to have been able to have identified the leak, carried out the repair and reopened the main pool as promptly as possible.

Whilst we were able to offer the majority of our customers an alternative venue for their activities we are pleased to announce all swim for fitness, swim for all, swimming lessons, aqua sessions, Goodboost and 60+ swimming is all back on the programme.  We are also now able to take bookings for our ever popular pool parties!

Thank you once again for your support and we look forward to seeing you all again very soon.
