The Tennis Team have gone all out this summer to provide a programme for their Tennis Junior Members that didn’t just have tennis on the agenda.

Summer holidays can often be a testing time for young people. The structure of school days gone, and young people left scratching their heads as what to do, to fill their time.

Not only that parents very much trying to juggle having their children home and trying to work too.

Provision of activities can be a challenge, but the Bodmin Tennis Team have come up with some non tennis activities to entertain their Junior Tennis Members.

Steve Holmes, Tennis Manager says, "Our tennis juniors play tennis weekly throughout the term time, so we thought we'd mix it up a little and offer them something different."

The Tennis Team got some ideas from the players as to the sorts of things they might like to do. A bit of research and communications with some local providers resulted in trips out to the beach for surfing, and a cycling adventure too.

Polzeath the location for the surfing and Lanhydrock Cycle trails for the cycling.

"It was great to see our Tennis Players in different environments other than on the tennis court with racket in hand.” Said Steve Holmes – Tennis Manager

Lanivet Community Hall mini bus was used to transport the youngsters to their destinations.

The Community Hall staff have been a great partner for the Bodmin Leisure Centre and Tennis Team in linking with programmes and projects from the centre. Thank you Barry

All those that attended had a wave smashing time, one tennis member saying, "What a cool day out i have had, the surfing lesson was so great, i loved being in the water."

Plans already afoot for the Christmas holidays, so watch this space.

The Tennis Team have a huge programme of tennis activities for tots, young people, and adults so check out whats on offer, and come down and have a go.
