On Friday 8th March, more than 240 swimmers from all over the London Borough of Lewisham gathered at Better's Glass Mill Leisure Centre to compete in the annual primary school gala.

The event was organised by Saxon Crown Swimming Club and supported by Lewisham Council and GLL - who very generously provided pool space and staff free of charge.

It was an exciting afternoon with all participants excelling not only in their swimming prowess but also in supporting their teammates. On top of this, in true, sporting tradition, they graciously applauded children from other teams.

Shiny gold, silver and bronze medals were presented by Councillors Jacq Paschoud and James-J Walsh, Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Communication.

Overall the event was a massive success and lots of fun for all who took part and the teachers and parents who cheered them on.
