About Our Senior Programme
The Sands Centre is home to sessions that are aimed at seniors aged 65. This fantastic initiative is designed to keep our beloved seniors active, foster new friendships, and improve their social, mental, and physical well-being. We encourage everyone to join in and give it a go!
Senior Activity sessions will take place every Monday morning from 9am to 1pm, providing a vibrant and engaging environment for seniors to participate in a range of enjoyable activities. Additionally on a Wednesday morning 10am-1pm we have a health wellbeing walk and senior circuits. The Sands Centre, with its recently redeveloped and improved facilities, is the perfect setting for seniors to come together and have a great time.
The main objective is to promote holistic health among seniors, aligning with the values and goals of the NHS agenda. By engaging in regular physical activity and social interaction, seniors can significantly enhance their overall well-being. The NHS recognises the importance of staying active and socially connected, and senior activites at The Sands Centre aligns perfectly with these principles.
We have a wonderful partnership with The Cumberland Council and work closely with the living longer better scheme
The senior activity session offers a diverse array of activities to cater to various interests and fitness levels. Participants can enjoy engaging in activities such as badminton, table tennis, short mat bowls, fitness classes, and even go for a refreshing swim afterward. These activities are not only fun but also help maintain good physical fitness and promote a healthy lifestyle.
Following the invigorating session, participants can unwind and socialise. They can enjoy a hot drink and perhaps indulge in a sweet treat while relishing the companionship of newfound friends.
