We recognise that Women’s and Girls football is growing, and participation numbers continue to rise, it is estimated this will increase 400% in the next 10 years. With an ambition to create more inclusive and equal opportunities to be physically active, we are on a mission with Middlesex FA, and Barnet Council to make Barnet a beacon borough for women’s and girls’ football and will therefore be providing a programme of legacy football sessions to enable sustainability and promote player pathways.

Here at Better, we are supporting this pledge through hosting football sessions for girls aged 8-12 in partnership with Eagles United FC. Whether girls want to try football for the first time or want to become the next Lioness, these sessions are a great place for young girls to learn new skills and make friends in a safe, fun, and structured environment.

We know the positive impact football can have on young people and that’s why we’re dedicated to giving girls the same opportunities to play football as boys have. Team sports are considered to have great potential for the development of healthy habits and the acquisition of values such as honesty, respect, tolerance, solidarity, generosity, and teamwork. Our sessions give girls a great opportunity to acquire all these essential life skills which will be vital as they grow up.

Our weekly football sessions are led by a qualified football coach, who focuses on three fundamental principles: fun & team spirit, speed & footwork, and skills & technique.

Fun & Team Spirit

Speed & Footwork

Skills & Technique

Having fun, making friends & getting active. Constantly modifying & developing new drills and games to keep girls interested, focused & smiling.

Drills & techniques designed to maximize potential while having fun. Focus on agility, speed & footwork to strengthen the girl’s technique & performance.

Fakes, feints & step-overs are encouraged. We want to encourage girls to express themselves on the pitch through creativity!

The sessions take place at Burnt Oak Leisure Centre every Wednesday from 18:00 – 19:00 on the outdoor 3g AstroTurf pitch, therefore girls attending the sessions are encouraged to bring suitable training wear (including appropriate footwear).
