We are very excited to announce that Talacre Community Sports Centre achieved a Very Good accreditation in our recent Quest assessment.

When speaking of the centre on his visit, the assessor noted: “There was a wide and varied range of activities on offer for younger people in particular, including a bespoke soft play centre, a gymnastics centre and various sports-specific programmes such as volleyball, football and table tennis. The general areas of the facility were clear of clutter and in particular, there was good storage of pushchairs and prams for users of the gymnastics and soft play areas. This was marked and well-ordered.”

The assessor was impressed with the investment plans for Talacre and how this will benefit our customers and the local community, “The team outlined in detail the £3, 000, 000 plus plans that were in place to transform and refurbish the facility. This would include items such as brand-new changing rooms, an extension to the gymnastics area, new studios downstairs/ upstairs and a reconfiguration of the reception area to accommodate an outdoor/ indoor café and corporate access control. Areas such as the Sports Hall and outdoor pitches would stay in the same configuration and would be refreshed. The levelling-up funding had been applied for by GLL and the client and the plans were currently out for consultation with both customers and councillors to start the project within 12 months. This went some way to explaining why the last 12/ 24 months had been a challenge for the team in terms of planning a well-maintained facility as the client was understandably reticent to spend any significant money on repairs, even minor ones. In the circumstances, the team had done an excellent job of "managing" the situation.”

The assessor highlighted the accessibility of our activities, “The team had put together an excellent document around Accessible activities within the partnership. This included images from the facilities and the community and full details of what activities were going on in the area, what memberships may be available and a weekly activity timetable. This document was now being rolled out across the organisation as an example of best practice. The Social Value for the Talacre Community Sports Centre facility activities was currently assessed as £65 per participant”. We are particularly excited that our Environmental Management module received an overall score of Very Good with the sections on how we reduce our negative impact on the environment and improve our carbon footprint and the systems in place to ensure that hazardous, clinical, and medical waste is disposed of correctly with records maintained both receiving Excellent marks.

Our team are very proud of this score and will take on the assessor’s feedback to continue making Talacre and excellent place for our customers and to continue providing excellent services to the local community.
