Looking for an exciting sport that your child will enjoy? Give basketball a try!

Whether they’re completely new to the game or have played before, we offer community basketball sessions every Tuesday 5-7pm at Southbury Leisure Centre.

Our structured coaching programme gives kids the chance to practice their dribbling, shooting, and passing with qualified coaches, building up the fundamentals of game play. Groups are split by age, helping your child enjoy the social benefits of the sport too as they spend time with their peers each week.

Basketball is one of the most popular team sports in the world. Here are some of the benefits your child can enjoy:

Getting active – basketball is a fast game, keeping your child on their toes and constantly moving

Making new friends – your child will meet other kids their age, make friends and build up camaraderie with their teammates

Building hand-eye coordination – dribbling, shooting and passing can all help to develop a child's hand-eye coordination skills

Developing self-discipline – weekly sessions and training help improve focus and concentration

What should my child bring with them to sessions:

Basketball can be a fast-paced sport so we recommend bringing:

  • a comfortable pair of trainers
  • lightweight clothing you can move freely in
  • a water bottle to keep hydrated (you can fill this up at our centre).

Sessions are as follows:

Every Tuesday

5-6pm- Ages 7-12 Years

6-7pm- Ages 13-17 Years

Sessions are just £3 per week and can be booked via the app or in centre.

Please speak to a member of the team for more information.
