Come and make a splash! On Saturday 22nd June, the Lido is hosting its first ever Festival of Swimming. A warm summer’s evening by the pool with friends, a steel band, friendly racing, relays and a wacky inflatable to finish - if that sounds like an enjoyable day, this festival is for you. Whether it’s been many years since you last raced or you’ve never raced before, this is your opportunity to have a go at a timed swim in a fun, pressure-free environment at your favourite pool.

This June, we are inviting anyone who loves swimming to participate in the following
individual events: 400m free, 100m free and breast, 50m free, breast, back and fly. At the end, there will be an opportunity for relays and a race across our Aqua Splash inflatable obstacle course. The event is open to anyone, from 8 years old to 100+, who can independently swim 50 metres. We particularly welcome para-swimmers who our pool accommodates and our lifeguards would be happy to discuss anything we can do to make the event more accessible for you. All times will be recorded, so you know what time to improve on next year. Alongside the races, spectators are welcome to cheer on their friends and family, picnic and watch from the sunbathing area.

Entry to the event is £6, which includes registration for the races you’d like to do and a special edition Festival of Swimming swimming hat. To enter a race, you’ll be asked for an entry time, so that we can put you in a heat with swimmers of a similar speed. Don’t know your time? Our team is happy to time you in the run up to the event - just pop in and ask us. This is a celebratory event with spot prizes for random heats. Spectator entry is £3 on the day, on a first come, first served basis.
