50+ Christmas Party

The Hackney partnership run various 50 plus programs, sessions, classes and other activities across Kings Hall, Clissold and Britannia Leisure Centre. As part of this, every year King’s Hall Leisure Centre we invite our 50+ users to a Christmas Party, with over 60 people in attendance this year.

The party took place at the Hackney Marshes Centre between 12pm-4pm. The room was decorated to give it that Christmas vibe including a fantastic Christmas Tree the team at the Marshes put up.

During the day we had Jenny T, our live DJ who we use every year playing the old school favourites. I can honestly say the ladies can certainly throw down some moves, they didn’t want to leave the dance floor.

Before the event took place we sold raffle tickets at Kings Hall giving them the opportunity to win prizes. The prizes were all health related, from yoga mates to small ankle weights.

Of course, the main thing the group were looking forward to was the buffet! We had a caterer cooking on the BBQ on the terrace, they had jerk chicken, mac and cheese, fish, salad and the list goes on. They absolutely loved it.

As things slowed down towards the end we had a surprise performer for them. A singer who took part in the X-Factor competition many years again made an appearance. He performed Christmas songs for them all.

They day wouldn’t have been the great success it was without the help of Rosaleen, our former Health and fitness lead. Rosaleen leads on all the 50 plus classes for us in Hackney. She really is a true god send.

A few of the ladies even showed their appreciation by saying some special words about Rosaleen and giving her some flowers.
