Swimathon returned to Cally Pool & Gym on 27th and 28th April, joining around 400 other pools across the UK who took part at the weekend.  Swimathon is the world’s largest annual fundraising swimming event, this year over £950,000 has been raised for Marie Curie and Cancer Research UK.

15 people completed their charity swim at Cally Pool, with challenges ranging from individual 1.5K & 5K to the team 5K.  The furthest distance of 5K is a total of 200 lengths of the 25m main pool!  4 families took part in the Team 5K and completed their swim together as a relay.  Medals were given out to all participants to celebrate their achievement. One individual also completed the triple 5k challenge, meaning they completed 15K across the weekend!

Thank you to all our staff that organised the event. On the day they welcomed swimmers, counted lengths and gave out medals. We look forward to welcoming more participates next year!

Swimathon was founded in 1997, the Foundation brings together swimmers of all ages and abilities with the aims of promoting the physical and mental benefits that swimming can bring to individuals whilst raising money for some of the UK’s most deserving charities.

Cally Pool is a fantastic place to train for and take part in Swimathon. We have Swim for Fitness sessions where you can train at your own pace in slow, medium and fast lanes. The Main Pool is 1.5m deep and 25m in length, and is equipped with a hoist making it accessible to those who require it.  There are also weekly women only swim sessions that take place on Fridays 7.30-9pm.
