Merton Leisure Centres shortlisted for two prestigious awards

Merton’s Leisure centres were basking in the spotlight as they were shortlisted for not just one, but two prestigious awards. Following this impressive achievement, the Merton Team was extended a special invitation to attendthe awards evening.

The Business Awards hosted by the Merton Chamber of Commerce hold a position of great prestige in the business world. These awards not only recognise but also actively promote excellence, innovation and best practices within Merton. Since their inception in 2013, they have served as a platform to honour the innovators and success stories of the borough. With a diverse range of categories, the awards cater to businesses of all sizes, ensuring every successful venture in Merton is celebrated and acknowledged for its contributions in the community.

The award ceremony held on 5th October at the home of AFC Wimbledon at Cherry Records Stadium, marked an exciting moment for the Merton team. The colleagues representing Wimbledon Leisure Centre & Spa, Morden Leisure Centre and Canons Leisure Centre were in attendance and the team relished the vibrant atmosphere, mingling with other local businesses from Merton. They were shortlisted for two prestigious awards: "Employer of the Year" and "Sport and Fitness Business of the Year", recognising their dedication and hard work. In the midst of stiff competition with a high number of applications, achieving finalist status was a significant accomplishment for the centres. The evening gave the team the opportunity to not only celebrate their own achievements but also connect with and be inspired by the achievements with fellow businesses in the community.

While the victory may have not been theirs this year, the honour if being finalists is a testament to their outstanding contributions. The team eagerly anticipates the 2024 business awards, with hopes for even more success and recognition in the future.
