SEND swimming introduced in Merton
At Better we understand that swimming is a valuable skill for any child to learn and our goal is to ensure swimming is accessible to the entire community and to simplify the learning process for everyone, that’s why Merton Leisure centres have recently introduced Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) swimming lessons for children.
The specific SEN group lessons aim to enhance accessibility, enjoyment, and ease for all participants. Whether you are looking to boost your child’s water confidence, reinforce swim safety awareness, or facilitate their swimming journey, our classes accommodate diverse abilities and age groups.
Our teachers are professional and passionate and have undergone specialized training, enabling them to tailor classes to children with various disabilities, impairments, and accessibility requirements. Lessons for children aged four and above and are taught at a reduced child:teacher ratio. These new SEND swimming lessons require adult supervision in the water throughout each session.
You can also now enjoy swimming together as a family with our new Family Fun SEND sessions at Morden Leisure Centre every Sunday. These sessions are designed to make swimming fun and enjoyable for everyone. Dive into a pool filled with plenty of floats and pool noodles, adding an extra element of fun! Family Fun Swim SEN sessions can be booked via the Better UK app.
We ensure that our pools and lessons are as convenient as possible, with accessible as possible, with accessible changing rooms and toilets, along with pool pods.
