Spa Experience Wimbledon at the Professional Beauty Awards 2018

Spa Experience by Better has been named Employer of the Year in this year’s Professional Beauty Awards.

Prestigious national spas including Beauty Matters Ltd, nkd, Saks Hair & Beauty, and Salon at Number 5 were shortlisted and Spa Experience by Better was announced as the winner at the awards dinner last night. We were also shortlisted for Day Spa of the year – with Spa Experience Wimbledon but, unfortunately, we weren’t successful.

The finalists were asked to outline how they have improved their staff’s careers, give details of their annual training schedules and how they have encouraged staff to develop new skills and contribute with new ideas to developing the business.  We were then surveyed by the judging panel, after providing a presentation to demonstrate all of the above. It was a tough selection process which took over 1.5 hours of questioning and required hard evidence to demonstrate our suitabilty.

One of the judges commented: “It is great to see an ethos to train and promote from within.  This strategy is clearly working for Spa Experience, with all Spa Managers promoted from within starting their careers with Spa Experience as therapists. It is great to see a low turnover of staff within the industry and also that people within the spa industry are being given real opportunities and great career choices."

As the only social enterprise included within the awards, it is a huge achievement to be recognised nationally within the industry.
