As the UK’s largest leisure operator and charitable social enterprise, we offer job and career opportunities for everyone in our local communities.

A fantastic place to start is by joining the team as a lifeguard. We offer unrivalled and award-winning industry training and development programmes, to enable people to develop a career with us.

The good news is that we have entry level lifeguard vacancies available at the following facilities:

  • Poplar Baths Leisure Centre and Gym
  • Mile End Park Leisure Centre and Stadium
  • Tiller Leisure Centre
  • York Hall Leisure Centre

Job roles will include the following:

  • Funded training on offer
  • Support in preparing for the course
  • Employee benefits package
  • Competitive salary
  • Career and development opportunities
  • Learning a life skill (life saving)

Female lifeguards are also needed to support Better’s Women Only programme delivery.

Why work for us? We’re different because…

  • We are a charitable social enterprise
  • We don’t have private share holders
  • We’re active in areas where leisure and library services are needed the most

We manage over 400 facilities, including public sport and leisure centres, libraries and children’s centres in partnership with local councils, public agencies and sporting organisations. This makes us the largest UK-based charitable social enterprise

A Charitable social enterprise combines commercial and social goals but with an emphasis on the latter. Profits are re-invested in our communities or company

We put purpose over profits. That’s why we reinvest every penny back into the business to support our social purpose, help develop our staff and make our services and spaces better for everyone.

Our people are who make us what we are. We are owned solely by our colleagues, where everyone has the right to stand for and elect our board. Our people are from the communities we serve and they believe in our social ethos.  We empower them throughout their career with us through our governance and ongoing learning and development.
