Waltham Forest
Waltham Forest Council has been working in partnership with GLL for over 16 years and we are delighted to have strengthened our partnership for a further 25 years.
Waltham Forest Council was proud to be one of the host Olympic boroughs and we are committed to improving leisure facilities by investing £24.5m giving us an opportunity to inspire a generation.
Since 2013, we completed the refurbishment of Walthamstow Leisure Centre and Leyton Gym. Leyton Leisure Centre and Leytonstone Leisure Centre (formerly Cathall Leisure Centre) have been re-opened.
Waltham Forest Pool and Track is being rebuilt as part of the Council’s multi-million pound improvement programme to leisure facilities across the borough. The rebuild will give residents a brand new leisure centre with state-of-the-art sport, health and fitness facilities. While the main building needed costly repairs and has now closed to allow for demolition work to start, the track will remain open for club and school use. Details of the new centre will be available in due course. For the latest information regarding the development of the new centre, please visit Waltham Forest Pool and Track page.
All our leisure centres offer a range of activities across various sites and there has never been a better time to try out the many sports and facilities on offer close to where you live.
Apart from our leisure centres, Waltham Forest is well located for access to large open green spaces such as Epping Forest, Wanstead Flats, Chingford Plains, Walthamstow and Leyton Marshes. We also have smaller green spaces throughout the borough and many parks that have achieved Green Flag status. The combination of being a host Olympic Borough and Waltham Forest Councils investment in Green spaces, Parks and Leisure Centres - will lead to a lasting legacy, of residents living healthier and more active lives.
