Swimming

Swimming is great at any age. Whether you want to improve your technique, get fit, meet new friends, compete or have fun, you're sure to find a pool session that you'll love.

There are two pools in the centre. The swimming pool is 25 metres long, with 6 lanes and offers a range of swimming activities. The teaching pool is ideal for family swimming and swiming lessons.

We offer a range of swimming lessons for all ages and abilities.

Don't forget that Manchester residents aged 60+ swim for free during public swimming sessions, and Manchester residents aged 16 and under swim for free during every school holiday.

Gym

Our fully equipped, air-conditioned gym has 90 stations so offers a range of fitness equipment for everyone. Our members can choose from cardiovascular machines such as treadmills and rowers, resistance equipment including a free weights section and dedicated stretching area.

For a fitness programme tailored to your needs, just ask a Better fitness instructor and they'll be happy to put together a workout to suit you.

Before using the gym you'll need to complete an induction, so our fitness instructors can check you are well enough to train. As well this gives you the opportunity to get advice about other activities the centre may offer which could help you achieve your fitness goals.

Squash Courts

If you’re looking to play squash or racketball, then join us at Hough End Leisure Centre where we have two glass backed squash courts available for both adult and juniors. Come down with a friend and play, or if you are new to squash or racketball, join in our squash and racketball programme.

Health Suite

The health suite consists of a sauna and steam room. Relax after a workout or a swim as this can assist with increasing blood flow, weight loss, cleansing, relieving stress and helping to relax body and mind. Showers, changing rooms and lockers are all provided.

Dance Studio

The fully air conditioned workout studio is home to a range of group exercise classes a week including Dance Aerobics, Total Body Conditioning, Yoga and Group Cycle.


Fully qualified fitness instructors take you through a range of classes to help you lose weight, tone up or simply get fit.

The fitness team are also available for advice, recommending the best classes for you, to help you achieve your health and fitness goals.

The studio can also be used for children's activities or for community events and activities.
