White-Knuckle Ride for Better Bowlers!

Last week, Better staff partnered with team mates from Lewisham Council to take part in the annual indoor bowls match against Crystal Palace and Lewisham Indoor Bowls Club.

The event has been running since 2021, initated by William Mannell, General Manager.

Eighteen players competed with Steve Hannen - (Head Of Service), Hannah Gilmour - (Partnership Manager), Matthew Houghton - (Community Sports Manager), and William Mannell making up the Better team.

They were joined by Lewisham representatives Cllr James J Walsh - (Cabinet Member For Culture, Leisure and Communication), Neville Graham - (Sports and Leisure Service Manager for Lewisham), Beatrice Wheatley (Client Officer), and Megan Roberts (PA to Cllr Walsh).

It was a close match with a final score of 36 - 8 won by the bowlers of Lewisham and Crystal Palace. Tea and cake were dished up after the match with Neville Graham providing an update on the future of the Bowls Centre.
