With the COP26 Conference underway in Glasgow we're taking the opportunity to let you know about some of the schemes and initiatives we're proud to support here at Moss Side Leisure Centre.

  • Moss Side is part of the Hulme Ward Climate change plan and our Centre Manager Faye and her Assistant Managers attend regular meetings.
  • In November 2019 solar panels were installed and the DEC rate has come down from 62C to 27A in the last 18 months.

  • The centre had a CHP unit installed as part of the refurbishment in 2017. CHP's are designed to produce heat and electricity simultaneously and the overall efficiency of CHP units can be as high as 95%

  • Grey rain water tanks were also fitted, these supply water to flush all toilets which also has an impact on DEC.

  • Moss Side is part of the reduction of plastics and recycling scheme and is looking to reduce the centre waste by 2% in 2021.
  • The centre has been successful in its application for bike/cycle library grant.
  • We're also part of the Hulme 'Get out and Walk ' scheme with local councillors.
  • Multiple staff members take advantage of GLL's Bike to Work scheme.
