South Reading Leisure Centre was delighted to attend the New Directions Inclusion Fete on Wednesday 27th May, supporting a fantastic community event focused on inclusion, wellbeing and participation for all. The event provided a great opportunity for local organisations and residents to come together, connect and enjoy a variety of engaging activities in a welcoming environment.

Throughout the day, the South Reading Leisure Centre team delivered a range of fun physical challenges that encouraged people of all ages and abilities to get involved. Visitors had the chance to test their aim with the “throw the ball into the bucket” challenge, push themselves on the rowing machine to see how far they could row in one minute, and take on the tough dumbbell crucifix hold challenge. The activities created a fun and competitive atmosphere, with plenty of encouragement, laughter and community spirit shared throughout the event.

As well as providing activities, the fete was an excellent opportunity to promote the wide range of inclusive activities available at South Reading Leisure Centre. Staff were on hand to speak to attendees about accessible fitness opportunities, membership options and flexible pay-as-you-go sessions designed to support people in becoming more active in a way that suits their lifestyle and individual needs.

The team also highlighted the free exercise sessions currently taking place in Whitley Wood, which aim to make physical activity more accessible within the local community. These sessions continue to provide residents with a welcoming and supportive environment to improve their health and wellbeing at no cost.

South Reading Leisure Centre was proud to be part of such a positive and inclusive event and looks forward to continuing to support the local community through accessible fitness and wellbeing opportunities for everyone.
