A benefit of having your local leisure centres operated by Better is we work side by side with Waltham Forest Council. As a result we are able to provide fantastic offers such as free* inclusive swims at any time, under 18s swimming for free* during school holidays, 6 month free memberships for refuges (link for more information and application form), and many other schemes.

To improve winter well-being we have been running Warm Spaces with free activities in partnership with Waltham Forest Council’s Community Living Room programme.  As that programme comes to an end we are inviting HEET to our centres to inform our members and Warm Spaces attendees how they can keep their home warm as well as energy saving tips. HEET have lots of knowledge so we encourage residents to ask them for advice. We recently had a session at Chingford Leisure Centre.

Next HEET sessions at a Waltham Forest leisure centre:

  • Leyton Leisure Centre Thursday 14th March 09:00 - 13:00

Another partner who we have arranged to visit us is Dr Bike. Dr Bike is an organisation which provides mechanics with lots of experience to check everything on a bike from wheels, brakes, gears and tyre pressure to lights, racks, pedals, saddles and more for no cost to the users. Any minor adjustments Dr Bike can make to the bike is done there and then. Anything Dr Bike can't fix on site they will let you know exactly what needs doing and a rough guide to what it should cost at a bike shop. All Dr Bike mechanics are friendly and approachable and have a wealth of cycling knowledge so feel free to ask them about cycle training such as Cycle Confident or other cycling activities.

Next Dr Bike sessions at a Waltham Forest leisure centre:

  • Chingford Leisure Centre Saturday 30th March
  • Leytonstone Leisure Centre Wednesday 10th April
