The British Junior Open 2024 took place from 3rd-7th January across four venues in Birmingham. The British Junior Open is a de-facto world junior squash championship and is widely considered one of the most prestigious titles. Manchester Squash Academy player Reuben was accepted into the draw to take on players from around the global squash community. In the first match, an opponent from Hong Kong. Despite not being seeded to win, Reuben won 3-2 after being 2-0 down in games. A fantastic win that took him into the top 32 in the world. In his subsequent matches, he played against strong opposition from Egypt, Japan and three fellow Englishmen. Reuben represented himself and the Manchester Squash Academy in a competitive and sporting manner. We are immensely proud of his fantastic achievement.

Reuben first started his squash journey through his primary school attending squash sessions at the National Squash Centre. These school sessions are delivered in partnership with Rackets Cubed. Rackets Cubed is a charity that delivers an integrated programme comprising squash, STEM education and a healthy nutritious meal as part of weekly activity delivered to local schools. From this initial taster of the sport, he has progressed from the junior beginner squash sessions to the Manchester Squash Academy.
