We're committed to improving our services in your local community and making your leisure experience even better. That's why we're pleased to let you know that work will begin on the new soft play at Leatherhead Leisure Centre on Monday 1st June.
What's changing?
The redevelopment will significantly open up the existing layout by incorporating the previously unused crèche area, creating a bright, spacious play environment that flows seamlessly from the entrance through to the outdoor play area.
At the heart of the new design will be an impressive two-tier adventure structure for children aged 2 and over, featuring a wide range of engaging and sensory elements — from LED-lit ball pools and spinning play features to rollers, climbing challenges, and three exciting slides.
Younger visitors won’t miss out either. A dedicated under 2’s zone will provide a safe and stimulating space tailored specifically for little ones, complete with its own play frame, slide, ball pool, and interactive features.
The experience doesn’t stop at the equipment. As part of the upgrade, the soft play area will be enhanced with comfortable picnic-style seating and tables, alongside a convenient pop-up café kiosk operated by Chapters Cafe. This means families can enjoy refreshments without ever having to leave the action.
In addition, previously closed toilet facilities within the soft play will be fully refurbished and brought back into use, improving convenience for all visitors.
Schedule of works
Work will begin in phases to help manage disruption:
Beginning 5th May, the old Creche area and Outdoor Play will be closed to public whilst the team begins work on opening up and uplifting that area. During this time, the main Soft Play will still be open for use so please be aware there may be some noise disruption during your visit.
From 1st June, the rest of the Soft Play area will close for the major works to begin including removing the current structure, completing the construction works, and installing the new frame.
All of these works will build to our relaunch of the new Soft Play, expected to be ready for the beginning of September. While there will be some temporary inconvenience, the end result promises to be one of the most exciting family play destinations in the area.
This ambitious redevelopment reflects a strong commitment to enhancing family leisure facilities and creating memorable experiences for the local community. Visitors can look forward to a completely refreshed soft play offering — bigger, brighter, and better than ever before.
