Team Tadworth Success at the annual Club Games for 60 years plus
Tadworth Leisure & Community Centre is celebrating the fantastic involvement of local members in this year's annual Better Club Games, with strong representation across Walking Netball, Walking Football and Pickleball. The walking sports competitions were held at Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre and the Pickleball competition held inside the cycle track at the Velo Park on Wednesday 16th September.
The annual Club Games now in its 20th year continues to provide a brilliant opportunity for residents aged 60+ to stay active, social and competitive while proudly representing Reigate & Banstead on a larger stage.
There were some excellent performances throughout the day. Both the Walking Netball and Pickleball teams achieved impressive fourth-place finishes in highly competitive events. The Pickleball team progressed all the way to the semi-finals before narrowly missing out in the third-place play-off, while the Walking Football team represented the borough with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship, enjoying several closely contested matches.
A special mention goes to the Tadworth Walking Netball team, the Netters, who delivered an excellent performance to secure a fantastic fourth-place finish. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to Peter Booker, who stepped in at the last minute to support the team following Von Searle's unfortunate injury, ensuring the Netters could continue to compete and represent Tadworth with pride.
Behind every successful event is a team of dedicated people working hard to make it happen. Particular recognition should be given to Sue Robinson, Community Sports Manager for her excellent organisation and planning, which played a significant role in making the event such a success. We would also like to thank Tadworth's Club Leads, Linda Varndell and Nadia James, whose enthusiasm and commitment have encouraged increasing numbers of members to get involved, compete and proudly represent Reigate & Banstead at the Club Games.
The excitement is not over yet. Tadworth Leisure & Community Centre is looking forward to hosting the Club Games Timed Swim event in October, giving local swimmers the chance to contribute valuable points for the borough while enjoying another fun and inclusive Club Games experience.
We would also like to wish all Reigate & Banstead competitors the very best of luck for the main Club Games event taking place at the Copper Box Arena on Wednesday 21st October. With participants competing across a wide range of sports, we know they will do the partnership proud and continue to showcase the fantastic community spirit that exists across our leisure centres.
Good luck Team Reigate & Banstead - we're all behind you!
