Walker Activity Dome

Walker Activity Dome is located on the East Side of Newcastle approximately 2.5 miles from the city centre. The building has a long history dating back to November 1965 when it first opened. Locally it is known as ‘The Dome’.

The venue boasts a 36x36m main sports hall with a capacity of up to 2000 spectators including 800 on bleacher seating and 200 on the balcony overlooking the sports hall. In addition to the main hall, we have various meeting rooms and activity rooms around the building which can be utilised for various activities. Local amenities include premier shops and takeaways and if you venture a little further there’s places to shop and eat.

The arena is a dome-shaped venue measuring 36m x 36m, making it a perfect setting for sporting events such as boxing, MMA, and Muay Thai.

You’ll have access to a range of facilities, including:

Bleacher seating for up to 800 spectators
Balcony seating for 200 guests
14 round tables (10 people per table) for dining or VIP areas
Changing rooms for participants
Male, female, and accessible toilets, plus urinals
Bar and catering areas, both operated by GLL
Customer Wi-Fi and 3-phase power supply
Meeting and function rooms for event coordination or hospitality
The arena can accommodate up to 2,000 spectators, depending on the chosen layout.

On event day, you’ll have access to the venue at the agreed set-up and take-down times.

The venue is fully accessible, with limited accessible parking spaces available and full access to all seating areas, including the bleachers and balcony.

How to get here

We are accessible on bus routes which include a few minutes walk to the venue or via the metro with an approximate 20 minute walk to the venue. The venue also has free parking spaces
