For additional help with your weight loss journey, we have the following useful signposts that may be helpful to you on your journey, including community support for developing a healthy diet.

A team made up of passionate experts and ambassadors for food education, with experience in practical teaching, community building, sustainable food systems, and business development, all united to bring food and growing education to Hackney.

Free cook and eat courses – Shoreditch Trust
Want to eat well but feel limited by budget, inspiration or cooking skills? A fun, supportive and social classes can help inspire you to cook affordable, nutritious food for you or your family.
Taking place over 6 weeks the courses cover a range of techniques and recipes. The sessions are aimed at adults or families and end with a sit down meal you prepare.
Courses are free and booking is essential.

Cook and eat sessions at Redmond Community Centre
Made In Hackney cook up delicious, vegan banquets. Come in and help prepare this tasty feast and meet new people from your area. Redmond Community Centre, Kayani Avenue, Hackney N4 2HF.

Free Cook Along Courses – Made in Hackney
Join one of our chefs online to learn how to cook a range of international cuisines over 6 weeks using local ingredients and healthier cooking techniques.
To join a class you need access to a smart phone or computer and a good internet connection. We’ll beam the live class straight into your kitchen via Zoom with all ingredients and equipment needed supplied in advance of the session.
You can also sign up to have your veggie ingredients delivered for free by local surplus organisation Streetbox!

Hackney Bags of Taste
Hackney Bags of Taste is a course which takes place in your home whereby you can cook three recipes with free ingredients delivered to you, in your own time.
The programme helps those on a very tight budget to improve your finances, mental and physical wellbeing. For those managing type 2 diabetes we provide a specially adapted ingredients bag. We welcome referrals or you can register youself by simply sending your name and number on the contact form. Hackney Bags of Taste will then be in touch to discuss the course and arrange a start date.
Food Cycle Hackney
This is not a food bank but a safe place for you to meet others and enjoy a hot, nutritious meal. As the cost of living crisis goes on, this organisation can help you to eat well and gain support from a network of others.

Weight Management for under 18s
Power Up! City and Hackney's new interim weight management service for young people aged 5-19yrs and their families!

This new programme has been designed by an MDT team at Homerton Hospital and will be run using a web based application and via face to face sessions over a period of 12 weeks. For those unable to access the web, 1:1 telephone support will be provided in addition to the face to face sessions.
We will work with children, young people and their families as well as community agencies and interested parties.
Do you need help with managing Diabetes?
Diabetes is a serious condition where your blood glucose level is too high. It can happen when your body doesn't produce enough insulin or the insulin it produces isn't effective, or when your body can't produce any insulin at all. This can be difficult to understand and hard to manage, but in addition to the support that we provide in your sessions, the below resources can offer additional help.

Our heart and lungs are amongst our most valuable organs, and a happy healthy life can be led if we take good care of them.
