Looking for something to keep the children active, entertained and learning new skills? Islington Tennis Centre and Gym has the answer with affordable tennis lessons available for children of all abilities, aged from 3 up to 15 years:

Tots Tennis (3-4 years)
Introduction to tennis for 3 and 4 year olds. It is played on small courts with soft balls. Working on balance, awareness and hitting the ball over the net in some capacity.

Mini Tennis Red Course (5-8 years)
Mini Tennis Red is for players aged between 5 and 8. It is played on small courts with short rackets and soft balls. It’s just like the real game and gives players opportunities to have long rallies and play different types of shots.

Mini Tennis Orange Course (8-9 years)
Mini Tennis Orange is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Red and is for players aged 7 and 9. It is played with shorter rackets, softer balls and courts are bigger and wider than the red stage but still smaller than full-size tennis courts allowing players to develop a rounded game whilst learning a range of techniques and tactics.

Mini Tennis Green Course (9-11 years)
Mini Tennis Green is a great way for players to continue their progress from Mini Tennis Orange. This level is for playes aged between 9 - 11 years. It is played on a full size tennis court, with bigger rackets and balls which are a little softer than yellow balls. It’s the next stage before moving on to full compression yellow balls on a full sized court and helps players develop and improve all aspects of their game.

Teen Tennis (11+ years)
These courses consist of coaching and coached match play, with an emphasis on fun.

The prices above are for a monthly direct debit (50 week courses with a 2 week break for Christmas). You can start at any time during the year.

Come and try one of our tennis courses today. We have something for everyone, including:

Adult Tennis Beginners (level 1)
This will be your first time trying tennis or you’ve played very infrequently in the past and would like to learn more. Players will learn the basics of the game, including; scoring, rules and the main shots involved (forehand, backhand, volley and serve).

Adult Tennis Intermediate (level 2)
You can maintain a groundstroke rally, basic serve and have some knowledge of the rules. Players will work on developing their knowledge of the game and will focus on keeping the ball in play, using a range of strokes.

Adult Tennis Advanced Intermediate (level 3)
You can play from the back of the court and at the net, your serve is developing and you have good knowledge of the rules. Players will continue to develop their technical skills as well as their understanding of the most common tactical situations in both singles and doubles.

Adult Tennis Advanced (level 4)
You are competent in all areas, tactically aware and able to play competitively. Improving matchplay play is the main focus, players will work on developing an individual game style becoming really familiar with the decisions and patterns of play that work well for them alongside developing their strengths and understanding how to exploit opponents’ weaknesses.

Timetable

How it works: Balls are provided; you can also borrow a racket if you need to.  Our reception team draw up a schedule of 30 minute doubles matches with all players guaranteed a minimum of 2 x 30 minutes of play on a 2 hour session and 3 x 30 minute on a 3 hour session. 

Level: We recommend you are at least an intermediate player to take part as these are doubles match play sessions.

We have 6 indoor cushioned acrylic and 2 floodlit outdoor macadam hard courts. All courts can be booked by the public (adults and juniors) without any membership. Only our licensed coaches can teach tennis lessons on our courts. People coaching without this license will be asked to leave.

Private coaching sessions are available for individuals or small groups at Islington Tennis Centre and Gym. They take place from Monday to Thursday: 7.00am-11.00pm, Friday: 7.00am-10.00pm and Saturday and Sunday: 7am-10pm.
