Well done to the Cheam High School girls and boys teams, who reached the National Finals, and came 4th and 7th respectively.

The girls, in the Aberdare Cup, came through a tough qualifying group (London South/West) by beating 3 schools including the strong Surbiton High School in a deciding shoot-out to qualify. At the finals in Nottingham, they beat Talbot Heath B and Eastbourne College, before coming short to Queenswood School in the semi-final.

The boys, in the Glanville Cup, beat 3 schools to progress through their qualifying group (London South). They won their first round at Nationals against Sherfield School, before losing out to Millfield in the quarter-final. They defeated Ellesmere College to come 7th.

Players who took part throughout the season:

Eloise Saraty, India Ampaw, Laura Cazacu, Daisy Stevens.

Josh Goodger, Tom Pitchley, Christian Doel, Viktor Naydenov, Dan Siddall, Vraj Patel.

The finals were a successful and enjoyable week. The team kept a healthy and supportive group environment and they found the right balance of being professional and competing hard, whilst enjoying their time off the court too.

In partnership with Sutton Tennis Academy, Cheam High has had a lot of success in the past at this event, and to see the girls come 4th and the boys come 7th out of 292 schools is a fantastic achievement and should make STA, CHS, the players and parents very proud.
