Sutton Dance Academy certainly brought in the crowds at their 3rd annual Summer BBQ and performance event on Saturday 8th July. Over 200 people endured the extreme afternoon heat to support Academy dancers as they took to the stage (grass!) in a variety of different performances, rehearsed for the occasion.
'We had a lovely day at the Sutton Dance Academy Summer Barbecue. My daughter had a great time dancing to songs from Moana and La La Land. She can't stop smiling every time she looks at the videos and photos from the day.' Miriam Menkarius, parent of Carla, Saturday workshop
Amidst tasty BBQ food and amazing faint-paint designs by ‘Lana Banana Party’ BBQ goers were invited to join in the dancing fun with some ‘copy along’ dance routines. Talented musician Jason Newall delighted those looking to chill out in the sun with his acoustic set which included covers of Ed Sheeran’s ‘Castle on the Hill’ and The Script’s ‘The Man Who Can’t Be Moved’.
‘All abilities and ages came together to showcase their dancing. It is fantastic to be a part of such a supporting and welcoming community at SDA.’ Adult Contemporary Dancer at Sutton Dance Academy
Performances showcased student talent and participation in Street Dance, Lyrical, Jazz, Contemporary, Inclusive Dance, Ballroom and Latin – from ages 3 upwards. Dance teachers received several enquiries from those interested in trying new classes and customers left slightly sweaty – but certainly extremely happy after a great and happy day in the sun!
