Learn the Better way at Sutton Tennis Academy

 

Please note that our coached tennis programme is currently on hold due to coronavirus. We are working on plans to restart coached lessons and courses and will keep you updated once we have more information and a confirmed date for the resumption of the programme. However courts are still available for casual players to make one off bookings. Please scroll down for further information.

Booking your activity:

If you are just looking to book a tennis court and play casually, we do have 3 x indoor hard courts and 4 x outdoor clay tennis courts that are currently available for one off bookings.

In order to manage numbers and to comply with the government requirement for Test and Trace, all sessions must be booked online via the Better UK app in advance.

Please arrive 'tennis ready' as changing rooms are not available. However there are toilets and lockers that can be used. Water fountains can be used, but only for filling bottles so please bring a water bottle with you.

Indoor court - £26 per hour 

Outdoor court - £10 per hour

Guidelines: 

When using the tennis courts, we ask that you adhere to the following guidelines:

  • All court bookings must be made in advance via the 'Better UK' app, or online here.
  • Use the app to check which club and which courts are available. Please note, courts will only be bookable at certain times and availability corresponds with that shown on the app.
  • Book your court before turning up. You will not be able to turn up and play. No transactions or bookings can be made at the centre.
  • Sessions will last 1 hour, with 50 minutes on court and 10 minutes of turnaround time to ensure the safety of those entering and exiting the court.
  • Maximum of 4 players per court. Note doubles play is now permitted (only in England) providing social distancing is adhered to.
  • Avoid changing ends or change at opposite sides on the net.
  • All members aged 5 and over will be allowed to play.
  • Please maintain social distancing.
  • Please don't shake hands or have any physical contact with other players.
  • Bring your own equipment. No rental equipment will be available. 
  • Arrive changed and ready to play as there will be no access to changing facilities.
  • Hand sanitiser, tissue and rubbish bins will all be made available to players.

LEARN Programme

LEARN Tennis provides the perfect introduction to the sport for children aged between three and ten.

Use the power of sport to help your children to develop in an inclusive and structured enviorment, where they can learn and grow through our tennis programmes.

LEARN Tennis is split into four stages:

LEARN Reception: 3yrs-5yrs - Learn the basics

LEARN Year 1-3: 5yrs-8yrs - Serve, rally and score

LEARN Year 4-5: 8yrs-9yrs - Develop a rounded game

LEARN Year 5-6: 10ys+ - Put your skills to the test

Local Player Development Centre (LPDC)

What is the LPDC programme?

Local Player Development Centres (LPDC) are national centres that have been selected to recieve funding by the national governing body (LTA) to support its under 10 performance pathway.

CALLING ALL TENNIS PLAYERS! SUPPORT LOCAL, FRIENDLY, COMPETITIVE TENNIS!

What can we expect? A big Federer backhand? A cheeky Murray chip-shot? A storming Serena serve?

 A quiet revolution is going on in tennis and you can be involved. Local Tennis Leagues run friendly, competitive tennis leagues throughout a number of our centres in the UK.

 The leagues pit similar level opponents up against each other in a round-robin format.

 Entering your local tennis league gives you the chance to win a free tube of tennis balls, free British Tennis Membership (meaning entry into our own Wimbledon ballot) and a prize for topping your league! There’s more than just pride at stake!

 You can play your most local league here at Better - with regular matches taking place throughout the area. You choose where you play, meaning friendly, competitive tennis really is on your doorstep!
