Restart A Heart initiative at your Centre
Better Gym Walthamstow Stadium Supporting Restart a Heart Day
Better Gym Walthamstow Stadium is taking part in Restart a Heart Day on Friday 16th October, joining leisure centres and organisations across the country to raise awareness of CPR and the importance of knowing what to do in a cardiac emergency.
To mark the day, we will be running a CPR Wheel of Fortune Challenge, giving members and visitors the chance to test their knowledge of CPR, defibrillators and basic emergency response.
The activity will be taking place throughout the day, with members invited to spin the wheel and answer a selection of CPR-related questions. These will include questions such as "What does AED stand for?", "What number should you call in an emergency?" and "What should you do if someone is unresponsive and not breathing normally?"
It's a simple activity, but one that we hope will get people thinking and talking about an important subject that can often be overlooked.
Why are we taking part?
Restart a Heart Day is an annual campaign supported by the Royal Life Saving Society UK (RLSS UK), Resuscitation Council UK and other organisations, aimed at increasing awareness of cardiac arrest and encouraging more people to learn CPR.
Cardiac arrests can happen anywhere, including at home, in the workplace or while exercising. Knowing how to respond, when to call for help and how to use a defibrillator can make a real difference to someone's chances of survival.
At Walthamstow Stadium, we regularly engage with members around their health and fitness, but we also recognise the importance of raising awareness of wider health and wellbeing issues.
Taking part in Restart a Heart Day gives us an opportunity to do something a little different on the gym floor, involve our members and share information that could be useful well beyond the gym.
Come and get involved
We'll be encouraging members and visitors to take a few minutes during their visit on Friday 16th October to spin the wheel, answer a question and hopefully learn something new.
You don't need any previous CPR knowledge to take part, and there is no need to book.
We look forward to seeing how much our members know!
