A major programme of investment from both Cardiff Council and GLL is helping to transform Pentwyn Leisure Centre, delivering modern, inclusive and high-quality facilities for the local community.
Cardiff Council has been working over the past two years to completely rebuild the swimming pool at the centre. The new 25m x 13m pool will feature state-of-the-art technology, including two movable floors — the first facility of its kind in the UK. This innovative design will enable a wider range of swimming activities and improve accessibility for all abilities, with adjustable depths ranging from 0.0m to 1.8m.
The new aquatic offer will also include a separate slide area for younger children, creating additional opportunities for fun and family-focused activity.
To complement the new pool, a brand-new village changing room will be introduced, featuring dedicated single-sex changing areas, alongside family and accessible cubicles to better meet the needs of all visitors.
Alongside this, GLL is investing in the health and fitness provision. The gym is undergoing a full refurbishment, with the space being reconfigured back into the main activities hall to accommodate a larger range of equipment and create dedicated workout zones. This redevelopment will provide members with a more spacious and versatile fitness environment, designed to support a wide variety of training styles and fitness goals.
The current gym space will then be converted into a dedicated fitness class studio, allowing for an expanded timetable of popular group exercise classes, including Zumba, Yoga and Pilates, giving customers even more opportunities to stay active.
In addition, since April this year, Cardiff Council has also been investing in the main reception area, reconfiguring the space with customers and members in mind to create a more welcoming, accessible and efficient arrival experience.
Together, these improvements represent a significant investment in the future of the centre, enhancing health, wellbeing and leisure opportunities for the whole community.
We will be in touch with members and the community with further information in due course.
