The refurbishments are complete!

We are excited to announce that the work to improve St Austell Leisure Centre which started in Sept 2017 is now complete.

Our brand new gym and studio are now open - and we can't wait to show you around!

The redevelopment has included

a new state-of-the-art gym complete with a large variety of top of the range Technogym equipment, and functional training areas
a new mezzanine floor to accommodate a brand new studio with a sprung floor, mirrored wall and feature lighting
new male and female dryside changing areas
work to improve the café including the launch of a brand new menu
improvements to the wetside accessible changing area
a reception refresh including the introduction of fast-access member kiosks
the installation of new boilers
the installation of new pool covers

The Count Down Has Begun!

The count down has begun to the opening of our brand new gym and studio, and the completion of the refurbishment work here at Better, St Austell Leisure Centre.

The gym is waiting delivery of the huge variety of Technogym equipment, and over the next few days, this will be installed and our staff trained on how to use it to it's full potential.

The studio is currently undergoing a few finishing touches and will soon be ready to hold our fitness classes.

We are really excited to be able to show you around when we open on 6th April.

To help celebrate the opening, on Friday 6^th April and Saturday 7^th April we will be running a prize draw each day for anyone attending the gym/classes. There will be a range of prizes to win each day, including a hampers, rucksacks, towels and duffle bags so come along and join in the fun - we look forward to seeing you there.

Great News - We are almost ready.......

Great news - the refurbishment works at Better, St Austell Leisure Centre are nearing completion, and we will be opening our new gym and dance studio on Friday 6th April.

The gym equipment is being installed on 3rd and 4th April, and once staff have received full training on 5th, we will be looking forward to welcoming you to your brand new gym on 6th.

We would like to thank you for your continued patience and support during the redurbishment work and really think that it will be worth the wait.

The New Gym!

This week’s update is all about the new gym! It is all systems go with the new flooring being laid, new lighting installed, ceilings going up and the walls plastered.

We are more than excited to announce that Technogym have confirmed that they will be here to install our brand new equipment in the new gym space on 3^rd and 4^th April. Our staff will receive full training on the new kit on 5^th April which should allow us to open our brand new gym at Better, St Austell Leisure Centre to our customers on 6^th April – and we can’t wait!

PROGRESS THIS WEEK

There are few updates this week!

The new gym is really beginning to take shape.There has been a lot of activity in the area with lots of progress made.

The temporary gym has been sucessfully moved into the sports hall and will remain here until our brand new gym opens to our customers.

The lighting in our changing village has been upgraded this week and behind the scenes, work has been completed to install a new pressurisation unit and a new hot water boiler.

Things are taking shape!

We are excited about this weeks update! Things are really beginning to take shape here at Better, St Austell Leisure Centre.

This week has seen the start of work to install a new screen in Reception which will help to keep the heat in the area which will make it more comfortable and improve energy efficiencies.

We have installed two fast track kiosks near the front reception area. Members can now use the fast track kiosks to gain access for the gym, swim and pre-booked fitness classes on the same day. The kiosks are easy to use and save you queuing at reception, so you can make better use of your time.

Wristbands have been replaced with a ticket issued upon checking in and can be handed to your instructor, to confirm your attendance.

The brand new gym is also progressing and we are really excitied to see that painting has begun in the gym extension.

As you can see from the photograph, the new Dance Studio is taking shape and this week, the concrete on the floor is curing.

A new menu board has been installed in the Café detailing the new delicious and healthy options that are now available for you to enjoy.

It really does feel as though all systems are go and as always, we will keep you updated here!

All systems go!

It's all systems go at Better, St Austell Leisure Centre this week! The steel structures for the new mezzanine floor and gym roof have arrived and are currently being put into position! This is great news and means that we should start to see some great progression now.

Also around the centre, we are having new pool covers installed on Thursday 18th January. This will help to keep the pool temperature more regulated and improve our energy efficiencies. The main pool will be closed from 9am - 1.30pm whilst the cover is fitted.

We have now launched our new healthy menu in the Café and look forward to receiving our brand new furniture early in February.

We would like to thank you again for your patience whilst the works continue.

Progress update around the building.

As the refurbishment work continues around the building, here are some updates of progress so far:

We are really excited about the addition of kiosks to reception. This will give our members the opportunity to register their attendance using one of these new kiosks, meaning that they will be able to beat the queues at reception during busy times. The kiosks will be installed once a new partition wall has been built in the reception area, which will be happening very soon.
Finishing touches are being made to the new member dryside changing rooms. We are really pleased with how they look and we are hoping that we will be able to open these to our members before Christmas!
Work begins on the next phase of Café improvements soon with behind the scenes work currently in process on a new healthier menu that we are excited to be launching in January. We are also taking delivery of some new furniture and making finishing touches ready our opening in January. Whilst the Café to allow these works to take place, the viewing area for swimming will still be available.
The £100k investment into replacement boilers is now complete and we are fully running off of the new system. This means that our carbon footprint will be reduced and we will run much more efficiently.

New boilers have arrived!

We are so happy to annouce that work has begun to install brand new boilers here at Better, Polkyth Leisure Centre. This £100,000 investment is part of GLL’s commitment to improving energy efficiencies and much needed investment in our plant equipment.

This week work also continues on the assembly of the new changing cubicles in the dry side changing rooms.

Progress so far!

There has been some further progress with knocking through the squash courts in order to facilitate the larger gym.

The area is already looking much larger and you can really get a feel of how much bigger the new gym is going to be.

The new male and female dryside changing rooms are also really starting to take shape. The tiling work has continued througout the week and great progress has been made. We think that they are looking great and can't wait to show off the finished product!

Much needed improvements have also been made in the Café this week and we are all really impressed with how it looks. We can't wait for the arrival of our new menu, which promises many more healthy options, and hope that your visit to the Café is now a much better one.

It has been a hive of activity at Better, Polkyth Leisure Centre this week, with progress being made in various areas.

Work to the cafe is coming along really well and we are very pleased with how it is looking so far. We will soon be introducing a new menu which will include more healthy options that you can choose from.

The new dryside changing rooms are really beginning to take shape now and this week we have had the tilers in who have made great progress.

The squash courts have been knocked through in readiness to become part of the new, larger gym and work has begun to prepare them for the merge.

Highlights this week at Polkyth!

We have some great highlights for you this week!

The reception area is so much brighter! We've painted the walls, wrapped our reception desk with Better branding, replaced all the electrics and ceiling and replaced the flooring throughout the entrance area which we hope you agree is a fantastic improvement.

We've also started work replacing the flooring as well down the main corridor and the team continue their hard work with getting the new dryside changing area ready for our customers.

Refurbishment work across the Centre

There's lots to update you on this week!

The preparation to the new dryside changing rooms is continuing to go really well. The new, larger space is being cleared so that work can begin to create the new seperate male and female changing areas.

The café refurbishment is also progressing well. The new floor has now been laid and decoration work is underway. There will be some re branding work happening this week so things are really starting to come together.

The reception area and the corridor has been repainted and new lights have been installed. The area is looking much brighter already. There will be some work completed this week to brighten up the reception desk. We look forward to updating you with the progress.

The New Dryside Changing Rooms

Refurbishment works are progressing upstairs to transform the sauna area and stretching area into new spacious, seperate male and female dry changing ares.

The wall has now been removed between the two areas so that preparations can begin on the larger space to create the brand new changing facilities.

Work to the Café has begun

This week has seen the start of the improvements to the Café.

We do apologise that we were unable to provide more notice of the closures and would like to thank you for your patience whilst the work is undertaken.

The Café is currently being prepared in readiness for new flooring to be laid and for it to receive a full revamp and refresh.

Once complete, the area will be a much more inviting and welcoming space to ensure that your visit is a much more pleasurable one.

The refurbishment work is underway!

We excited to be able to say that refurbishment work has begun at Better, Polkyth Leisure Centre!

The upstairs sauna and stretching area is currently being totally gutted in readiness to become home to the new male and female changing rooms.

You may have also noticed that the centre is looking much brighter thanks to replacement lighting in the café, reception and corridor areas.

Refurbishment Work is About to Begin!

We are excited to announce that refurbishment work is underway at Polkyth Leisure Centre.

Over the coming weeks you will see a brand new larger gym complete with top of the range Technogym equipment. There will also be a brand new mezzannine level which will boast a new fitness studio helping more people to get more active, more often!

Additional work will see:

Refurbishment work to the dryside changing rooms
Much needed improvement to the Cafe
Improvements to the reception area
New corridor flooring

This will provide our customers with leisure facilities that will be a pleasure to use and will be a real asset to the community.
