The Best Sports Hall and Hub in West London

The Gunnersbury Park Sports Hub is near completion and although the centre may not yet be open, our facility is booking up fast! Sports centres in the area that provide pitches and a sports hall are few and far between, consequently we’ve seen a huge response from notable clubs who are now set to use our well-equipped new facility. The impressive sports hall is nearly complete, with cladding up and flooring being laid at the moment!

There will be opportunity for all manner of sports to be played in there with markings set for volleyball, badminton, 5-a-side football, handball, futsal, basketball and netball. The wide variety of sport offerings means that local schools, private coaches and sports clubs are getting in touch to book our hall and we are delighted to be able to help make sport more accessible for the local community.

Here are some of the sports clubs who you will see at Gunnersbury on the pitches and in the sports hall:

• Brentford Football Club are a big presence in the area already, and their work in the community coaching the local youth is a value that we share! As well as running a number of football sessions on our artificial pitches for youngsters, they also work with local schools to deliver extra-curricular sporting activities and sport-based programmes to get kids moving.

• The Actonians are a local sports club founded back in 1922 who run badminton, cricket, football, hockey, netball, rugby, squash, table tennis and tennis. They are a regular user of our artificial turf pitches already for their football sessions!

• West London Eagles Handball are soon to be gracing our sports hall on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons. Their club has seen great success over the years including a National winning streak from 1991 to 2006 and a European tie in 1982. Their head coach (GB Coach Mel Chowns). was awarded the first ever lifetime achievement award by England Handball in 2014 as recognition of over 20 years’ service to the Eagles and handball in the UK.

• Polonia Volleyball are a semi professional volleyball team based in West London and over the last few years has remained one of the top teams in English volleyball, consistently finishing within the top four places in the League. Their women’s team will be training hard in our sports hall on Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday evenings!

Apart from the amazing facility, being set in such beautiful surroundings it is no wonder there is so much buzz around the new centre opening. Our Gunnersbury team have already been enamoured with the park and are very excited to see it changing around the centre through the seasons, check out a couple of snaps the team have taken over the last fortnight!
